Give us a brief history about the hotel
Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & The Spa was the first luxury hotel in Bern, with roots stretching back over 150 years. Built on a foundation of grandeur, the Hotel has been welcoming world-famous celebrities, heads of state and leading scientists as their guests.
Hotel Fetzer, as it was first known as when it was founded in 1857, was rebuilt and festively reopened in the later years to appear as an extravagant hotel. Calendar changed, management changed, but the glory of the Hotel was just multiplying with time. Today, the Hotel is a part of the portfolio of Buergenstock Selection and undoubtedly a specimen of luxury.

The hotel is located next to the train station in the middle of the capitol city of Switzerland and also in the heart of Switzerland. Our main market is Switzerland followed by US, Germany, UK and GCC.
Is your property child-friendly? What are the amenities for kids and women?
We have some rooms which can be interconnected as family rooms (Family Two Bedroom and Family Three Bedroom). We offer one hour a day where the kids are allowed to go to the Spa with their parents (Splash Hour from 4pm to 5pm). We do have special kids menu at our Restaurant Jack’s Brasserie and Lobby-Lounge-Bar. Each child gets a small goody bag in the room upon arrival which includes drawing material, shampoo, bath towel and a little tiger (stuffed animals).

In 1969, the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern was filmed in a scene in “James Bond 007 – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. The sequence played in the balcony of our room 411 where James Bond receives the order to go against Blofeld. That was one-of-a-kind experience.
